131 power plants go online in Turkey in 8 months
Turkey's installed capacity increased by 10 percent and the number of power plants 17 percent during last year, said Energy Minister Taner Yildiz in a written statement. In the first 8 months of current year, 131 power plants with a capacity of 4,100 MW went online, costing $6 billion while the total capacity introduced during last year was 4,150 MW. Yildiz underlined that there was a six fold increase in the share of power from local and renewable sources compared to last year. Yildiz also noted that the share of private sector went up to 62 percent this year from 34 percent 10 years ago.
