2010 saw good growth, but unemployment still high

Turkey grew by 8.9 percent in 2010 last year, and 9.2 percent in the last quarter of the year, announced Turkey's statistics authority TurkStat yesterday. Gross domestic product also rose to 1.1 trillion TL ($736 billion) last year, it said. But it said this growth has had little effect in bringing down unemployment, with over 5 million Turks still without jobs.
