41 Turkish sites now on UNESCO's tentative world heritage list
The number of sites from Turkey that have made it onto the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Tentative List of World Heritage Sites has reached 41. A written statement by the Culture and Tourism Ministry said that Turkey's Genoese castles, ancient city of Laodikeia, Sardis, the capital city of the Lydians and Bin Tepeler, which are both located in the Salihli district of Manisa and Lake Tuz in Central Anatolia were added to the UNESCO Tentative List, while 11 Turkish sites are already included on the list.
