5th International Student Gathering held in Istanbul

The 5th International Student Gathering which, jointly organized by the Bab-i Alem International Students' Association and 33 other associations, was inaugurated at the Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul on Saturday by Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag, Justice and Development Party (AKP) Istanbul deputy Feyzullah Kiyiklik and Lebanese leader Omar Mukhtar's son Mohammed Omar Mukhtar.  The three-day event was attended by 1,100 students from 75 countries, as well as tens of thousands of visitors from the Balkans, Caucasia, Central East, Asia and Africa. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Bozdag said that approximately 21,000 students studied in our country thanks to scholarships granted by Turkey and that they aimed at increasing this number in upcoming years.  Bab-i Alem International Students' Association Chairman Mehmet Ali Bolat indicated the importance of organizing the gathering at the Sultanahmet Square and thanked the Metropolitan Municipality for offering this opportunity to them.
