90th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic Celebrated across the country

There were celebrations across the country to mark the 90th anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic. The celebration of Turkey's National Day began on Tuesday with an official ceremony at the Anitkabir, Mausoleum of founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in capital city of Ankara. President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chief of General Staff Gen. Necdet Ozel, Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek, Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıcdaroglu and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli attended the ceremony after which President Abdullah Gul wrote, "Our country's gains in all fields and its development as a global center as it approaches its centennial anniversary, makes all of us very proud of our country." in the special guestbook at Anitkabir. The ceremony at Anitkabir  was followed by an official event at Ataturk Cultural Center attended by high-level state officials, military commanders and representatives of some political parties. President Gul later received congratulations from high-level dignitaries at the Cankaya Presidential Palace.
