Amid Libyan chaos, Caglayan works to raise spirits of turkish contractors

Meeting in Ankara with representatives of Turkish contractors active in Libya , Foreign Trade Minister Zafer Caglayan yesterday tried to boost their morale, while admitting that Turkey 's export performance would be hurt by the regional turmoil. "There should be no doubt that after things have calmed down, Turkish companies will do much more than what they have done (in the region) up to now," he said. "We will send back to the region more citizens than we pulled out." Caglayan presided over the emergency meeting with representatives of Turkish construction companies that have extensive business investments in Libya . Thanking the contractors, he also called for "sensitivity" from Turkish banks. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Foreign and Transportation ministries, the Prime Ministry's Disaster Affairs Directorate, the Export Promotion Center , Turkish Eximbank, the Foreign Economic Relations Board, the Arab Turkish Bank, the Turkish Contractors Association, and the Construction Industrialists Employers Union.
