Mohamed El Fatah Naciri, the representative of the Arab League in Turkey, has expressed strong confidence in Turkey’s ability to deal with the crisis involving its next-door neighbor, Syria, as well as in Ankara’s cooperative approach to the international community and in particular the case of Syria. “We understand that Turkey is worried and that it should act accordingly to save its frontiers [protect its borders] and stabilize the neighborhood,” Naciri said in an interview with Today’s Zaman last week, remarking on the extent of the league’s faith in Turkey. “But we are also confident that Turkey will not take any further steps [against Syria] without consulting the international community.”
