Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc yesterday said that the incident in which five Turkish citizens were killed and more than 13 others wounded by Syrian artillery shells landing in the southeastern town of Akcakale earlier in the day was "the final straw".  Speaking to reporters in northern city of Bursa, Arinc said that Turkey was a sovereign country, adding, "Turkey has been attacked and our citizens have died. There will certainly be reciprocity to such an attack under international laws. The NATO treaty places certain burdens on member states when one of them comes under attack in one way or another. We will defend our rights till the end when our citizens have been killed and our territory came under attack." For his part, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said that the Syrian attack was "very serious" and "goes too far".
