Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc yesterday called on Iran, Lebanon and Iraq to raise their voices against violence in Syria. Speaking to journalists in western province of Bursa, Arinc said that Turkey would do whatever necessary for Syria and that military intervention was not an option to Turkey. Arinc reiterated that 337 Muslim people, including women and children, have been massacred during the holy night on which the birth of Prophet Mohammed was marked. Stating that decisions to be made by the UN and Arab League with regard to incidents in Syria should be applied, Arinc said that he would like to learn how Iran and Lebanon react to this incident of violence. "Does Iraq feel sorrow? I want to hear that. If they do not raise their voices, then they have to remove the word ‘Islam' from their names," said Arinc, adding that the Syrian government should be isolated from the international community. Arinc said that Turkey cannot remain silent to what is happening in Syria and that the crackdown on civilians seemed to continue and Turkey would do its share about the issue. Arinc added that the only hope for the Syrian people was Turkey and Turkish people.
