Babacan meets with US' former Vice President

Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan held a bilateral meeting with United State's Former Vice President and Chairman of Climate Reality Project Al Gore in Istanbul on Sunday. Following the meeting, Babacan made a speech on the sidelines of the Climate Reality Project in which 600 people from 97 countries attended, saying that climate change, a global problem, must be solved with global solutions. Recalling that the climate change is a problem that caused by "selfish generations", Babacan said, "The climate change should be high on the global agenda. Countries and companies should not be insensitive to the environment." Babacan also said that Turkey attached great importance to energy efficiency, adding, "One of the important parts of our system in Turkey is that there is no subvention in energy. We tax the energy."
