Turkey will be able complete all the necessary requirements to join the European Union by 2014, said Chief EU Negotiator and State Minister Egemen Bagis yesterday, currently on a three-day trip to Denmark. Bagis, on his first trip to Denmark since being appointed chief negotiator two years ago, has said he hopes to turn a new page in ties with Denmark . Addressing the Danish European Movement, he stressed that the accession process is more important than its outcome and that Turkey will remain patient while preparing for EU accession. Acknowledging that the European prejudices Turkey faces are formidable, he predicted that Europe will come to understand that Turkey won't be a burden but an asset for the EU. Bagis also argued that blocking some chapters of Turkey 's negotiations while citing the Cyprus issue is unfair, as similar problem didn't prevent Greek Cyprus from joining the EU in 2004.
