Bagis opens fish market equipped with EU standards in Istanbul

The Fish market in Istanbul's district of Kucukcekmece which was equipped with EU standards as part of the "Implementation of EU Standards in Kucukcekmece Retail Fish Market Project" was opened Istanbul yesterday with the participation of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and Mayor of Kucukcekmece Municipality Aziz Yeniay. The Kucukcekmece Municipality has ranked among the top 24 applications out of 400 from Turkey, and thus entitled to receive funds by the Civil Society Dialogue II Grant Scheme for the project. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bagis said that important projects were implemented not only in Kucukcekmece, but also in many other locations with regard to fishery. Bagis also expressed his gladness over the fish which is presented to dining tables of Turkish people in accordance to EU standards. Following the opening ceremony, Bagis also attended the EU's Fishery Policies and Alignment with the EU Acquis Panel in Istanbul.
