Bagis: We will take the motion issue to parliament, if necessary

Having participated in the Second General Assembly of World Design Cities in Ankara, Turkey's Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis answered the questions of journalists in a press conference. In response to a question about the position of Turkey in the case of an eventual military intervention in Syria, Bagis said that the position of Turkey had been clear from the very beginning and that it would remain unchanged. "Turkey doesn't have its eye for any energy source or the land of any state. Turkey's only desire is to stop the bloodshed," Bagis said. Criticizing the stand of UN Security Council on the Syrian issue, Bagis said, "If the UN Security Council made appropriate decisions and passed the necessary message in a clear manner, Assad would leave the country and Syrians would retrieve democracy without any intervention." Answering a question on whether the government needed a new motion to join the international coalition, Bagis said, "We will examine the situation on Monday. If the current motion isn't sufficient, we will take it to the parliament for a new one. I believe no MP will vote ‘no' on the motion after the recent images which came from Syria".
