Caglayan attends European Seafood Exposition in Brussels
Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan attended the European Seafood Exposition in Brussels and visited the Turkish stands. Speaking to reporters, Caglayan said that Turkey's export volume of sea products amounted to $446 million, whereas the amount was $120 billion worldwide. Stating that the Customs Union agreement signed with the EU on January 1, 1996 harmed Turkey's foreign trade today, Caglayan said that actually the EU needed Turkey. Underlining that the EU was holding meetings to sign the Free Trade Agreement with the US, Caglayan said that if the agreement was signed, the American goods would enter Turkey without any customs duty.
