Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan stated yesterday that Turkey's current deficit has been on the lowest level since October 2010 on a monthly basis. "The decrease in current deficit is a concrete result of measures which were taken, as well as policies followed by the Central Bank. We will see a Turkey in upcoming months where import further decreases and export increases. Towards this end, the Output Supply Strategy (GITES) that we have been conducting as part of the Export-Oriented Production Strategy to turn our industrial production structure into an export-oriented structure consist of certain measures aimed at resolving the foreign trade deficit and current deficit issues in Turkey's economy," said Caglayan.
