Culture and Tourism Minister Omer Celik attended the Terrorism Symposium of the Parliamentary Exchange and Dialogue Project over the weekend in Antalya. Speaking on the sidelines of the symposium, Celik said that there was not an objective arrangement in the world with regard to the fight against terrorism. Stating that the government's stance has never made concession to democracy for the sake of security in the last decade, Celik said that Turkey could achieve a strong position with regard to the fight against terrorism thanks to its increased democratic standards. "But I cannot say that we could have received sufficient support from our ally democracies in this process," Celik said. "Democracy could survive with solidarity among the democratic states. The fight against terrorism should be excluded from the struggle for power or interests among the states." Celik added that the fight against terrorism was only not a matter of legislation, but also a matter of law, ethics and solidarity among democracies.
