Culture and Tourism Minister in Bulgaria for historic artifacts
Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay and an accompanying delegation who are in Bulgaria to get stolen artifacts back to Turkey are set to take back 20 stolen artifacts. Increased communication regarding the issue has resulted in a rise in returned artifacts, with 464 items returned to Turkey this year alone. Speaking to reporters, Gunay said that Turkey has been exerting efforts to sign agreements with neighboring countries with regard to return of historical and cultural artifacts. "There are a great many artifacts which have been seized by Bulgaria on its border gates and which are covered by certain agreements regarding their ownership to Turkey. We will take delivery of some of them and bring back the remaining ones in the upcoming period," Gunay added.
