The abduction of two Turkish pilots in Lebanon amounted to "a clear act of terror," Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said yesterday in Gabala, Azerbaijan. Emphasizing that efforts continue to secure the release of the pilots, Davutoglu told reporters that “The release of our pilots as soon as possible is crucial. I have also told our counterparts that this is a clear act of terror. This act of terror act taking place on a highway running from the Beirut airport to the city, a highway that is clearly under the control of the Lebanese security forces, shows that either that are no security measures in Beirut or the perpetrators were somehow supported.” Davutoglu added that “It is unacceptable to associate this [abduction] to incidents in Syria. Turkey cannot be held responsible for any incident in Syria. If someone is to be held responsible for the events in Syria, it is the Syrian regime”.
