Meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad yesterday, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu delivered four messages from Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan. Davutoglu later met with his Syrian counterpart Walid al-Mouallem. During his talks with Assad, Davutoglu relayed the following messages:

- Don't delay moving towards a reform process, and especially lifting the state of emergency. Meeting with the opposition will bring political stability.

- Explain to the public the positive aspects of your approach to Sunnis as a result of your wife also being Sunni.

- Turkey is ready to provide support during the reform process.

- There are a number of examples of transformation going on in the region now, not just Egypt and Tunisia. A transition in Syria would affect the entire Middle East.
