Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday met with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku. Speaking in a joint press conference following the meeting, Davutoglu criticized the military coup in Egypt and said that being concerned about the recent situation there does not mean interfering in Egypt’s internal affairs. Stating that Egypt is a dear friend and important ally for Turkey, Davutoglu said that every development there has influence on the entire Middle East region. "We recognize every segment of the political spectrum in Egypt as our brothers and friends. The region needs more than ever for the recovery of stability in Egypt," Davutoglu said. Touching on the territorial claims recently made by top Armenian officials, Davutoglu said, "Apart from offering such a thing, it is out of question to think about it." Davutoglu also called on "those who dare to take a pebble from Turkey" to know their limits.
