Davutoglu: No one will again dare to violate Turkish borders
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said "We are ready to protect our national and security interests and do not expect any retaliation from Syria" in response to a question about the shooting of a Syrian helicopter. Giving additional information about the incident, Davutoglu confirmed that it was not a passenger helicopter, but one dropping barrel bombs on civilians. "No one should have any doubts regarding the capability of Turkey and Turkish Armed Forces." said Davutoglu, underlining that the helicopter pilot was warned by Turkish Armed Forces prior to the violation. "This border is also NATO border. NATO border has been violated and Turkey, according to international law, has made its independent decision about its national security and did what it takes for defense. (...)No one will again dare to violate Turkish borders in any way," added Davutoglu. Concerning the criticism by the Syrian General Staff about the hasty response of the Turkish Armed Forces, Davutoglu said "A comment such as ‘hastiness' is actually a confession of the crime,", reiterating that such a statement itself reveals that the Syrian side committed a border violation.
