Speaking to a group of reporters on the sidelines of the 48th Munich Security Conference in Germany over the weekend, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that Turkey's doors were open to all Syrians who want to flee from oppression. Reacting to Russia and China for vetoing a United Nations Security Council resolution to stop the killings of civilians by Syrian security sources, Davutoglu reiterated that the UN resolution, which was proposed by the countries which are directly affected by the Syrian crisis, were vetoed by those which are not directly related with it. "At this point, ethical and legalistic weakness regarding international politics is evident. This situation also requires questioning of the legitimacy of decision mechanisms within the UN," said Davutoglu, adding that an armed intervention aimed at preventing Iran from containing nuclear weapons would create a disaster in the region. Davutoglu advised that means of diplomacy should be resorted, rather than military operations or embargoes.
