Speaking to reporters in the central Anatolian province of Konya, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday reaffirmed Turkey's willingness to back any decision to be made by the Arab League regarding Syria. In response to a question about his recent statements to the al-Arabiya TV that Turkey is willing to support a possible intervention by the UN, in case of the Arab League's inability to resolve the Syria issue, Davutoglu said, "If the Arab League and regional initiatives fail to create a solution to the issue, and if we keep on getting the news about conflicts and killings of hundreds of people in Syria and receiving further asylum requests, then the issue will naturally become a humanitarian one. In this case, and in case the UN intervenes in the issue, we will make contributions to this process as part of humanitarian goals. This is what I meant. We hope a solution for the unrest will be found by regional actors and the bloodshed caused by the Syrian regime will be stopped by Syrian administration."
