Davutoglu telephones his Iranisn counterpart over deadly earthquake

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu telephoned on Saturday his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi over twin earthquakes that hit the northwestern city of Tabriz with at least 250 dead and 2,000 wounded. Reportedly, Davutoglu told Salehi that Turkey was ready to help Iran in its search and rescue efforts. The Turkish Foreign Ministry also issued a statement, saying that Turkey was deeply saddened by the news of the earthquakes, and reiterating Turkey's readiness to help. Furthermore, the Turkish Red Crescent (Kizilay) stated that the vehicles which are conducted by expert teams from Kizilay's Regional Disaster Management Center of Northern Anatolia have reached Tabriz. Kizilay sent 2,000 tents, blankets, food and blood to the region, and established a tent city in a stadium for 16,000 persons.
