In line with efforts to raise awareness of a recent massacre of Rohingya or Arakan Muslims in western Myanmar, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is set to visit the country on Aug. 8. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife, Emine Erdogan, and daughter, Sumeyye Erdogan, and Davutoglu’s wife, Sare Davutoglu, will accompany the foreign minister. As part of his visit, Davutoglu will meet with Myanmar government officials to discuss the humanitarian aid efforts carried out by Turkey and the situation of Rohingya Muslims. Turkey has previously made contacts with Myanmar through Davutoglu, who has sent a letter to Bangladesh, which has refused to allow the entry of Arakan Muslims who wanted to take refuge in Bangladesh.
