According to the news covered in the Greek press, on the instruction of Foreign Minister George Papandreou, Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Dollis has initiated efforts aimed at removing the legal regulation on one-day visa requirements imposed on Turkish citizens to enter Western Thrace.  The request to allow Turkish citizens to enter the regions located on the western side of Maritza River on the Turkish-Greek border was submitted by members of Parliament in the region to Papandreou last week, stating that the region will be able to breathe again thanks to Turks in the midst of a deep economic crisis.
