Erdogan attends fast-breaking event in Ankara
Speaking at a fast-breaking event organized by the civil servants’ union (Memur-Sen) in Ankara, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan touched on the efforts aimed drafting a new constitution. Erdogan said that the parties represented in Parliament were able to agree upon 48 articles, while there is still disagreement over the rest of the new constitution. “Let's submit those 48 articles, which parties agree upon, to Parliament within one week,” Erdogan said. Referring to the current situation in Egypt, Erdogan said, “A military coup has been staged in Egypt, although they don’t accept it. We have suffered a lot from military coups. We don’t want our Egyptian brothers to suffer from them as well. That’s the only matter.” Erdogan added that the coup stagers will sooner or later be tried.
