Erdogan: "Last month's NATO summit ended well for Turkey"
The outcome of last month's NATO summit in Lisbon was satisfactory for Turkey , as all of its concerns over a planned missile defense system were addressed, said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday. " Turkey made its mark on the summit and influenced (NATO's new) strategic concept document," Erdogan said in a televised address to the nation. Saying that in the end, after tough negotiations, the participants passed a document that met all of Turkey 's expectations, Erdogan added, "All Turkey's sensitivities were taken into consideration, and our concerns were addressed." Erdogan said the participants agreed that the planned missile defense system would fully protect all the NATO allies, adding that thanks to Turkey 's efforts, no country was named as a threat.
