Erdogan: We have a strong army
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said in an interview with Al Jazeera during his visit to Qatar that the situation in Syria seriously worries Turkey. "We have a strong army. If they (Syria) repeat previous mistakes, Turkey's stance would be different," he said. Erdogan pointed out that the number of refugees in Turkey flying from Syria raised 25,000. Erdogan described Syrian officials' statements, which blamed Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar for hostility, as "contradiction". "We do not accept what Besar Esad has done; we are hostile against what Esad regime has done," he said. "If border violations keep on, as a NATO member Turkey will take necessary steps. When we take that step, NATO's article 5 which regards a NATO member get attacked will become effective," he added.
