EU institute for security studies recommends cooperation with Turkey
The European Union for Security Studies recommended that it should be kept in mind that Turkey is a big player and cooperation should be made with this country in its analysis on the Arab Spring named "Transformations in the Arab World: What is Next?" written by policy advisor for EU Commission Isabelle Ioannides. "Particularly Turkey presents itself as a possible reference point in the transformation of the Arab world. We should look beyond the current tension at east Mediterranean. The political reforms in Turkey seem to allow the coexistence of moderate Islam with secular elites in a democracy. Substantial foreign direct investment that has been attracted thanks to economic reforms has helped the modernization of Turkish industry, energy and banking sectors. Regardless of how the EU accession process ends, it should be kept in mind that Turkey is a big player and should be cooperated with." Ioannides wrote in her analysis.
