FM Davutoglu offially starts meeting at the UNSC

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu yesterday officially started a meeting at the UN as a result of Turkey becoming the term president for June, which took place for the first time at the UN Security Council (UNSC) after 48 years. In his speech, Davutoglu stated that Turkey was deeply committed to supporting ideals and principles which take place in the Charter of UN as a responsible member of the international community. Turkey took over the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council on June 1 for one month. The presidency of the UN Security Council rotates among 15 members in alphabetical order. Turkey has been a member of the UN Security Council since January 2009. As one of the 10 non-permanent members, it will stay in the council until the end of 2010.
