French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said that France was willing to "open a new page" in its relations with Turkey. Speaking at a press conference, Valero said the meeting between French President Francois Hollande and Turkish President Abdullah Gul during NATO summit showed France's will to revive relations between the two countries. Valero defined Turkey as an "important partner and ally," saying that the relations should be stronger in all areas. "Our relations should be based on dialogue, mutual respect and confidence," Valero said, adding that France attaches importance to Turkey's relations with the EU.
