Gul attends inauguration ceremony for University of Aviaton

President Abdullah Gul yesterday attended the official inauguration ceremony for the University of the Turkish Aeronautics Association (THK), namely, the country’s first university in aviation and space. Upon his arrival at the university, Gul was welcomed by Customs and Trade Minister Hayati Yazici, Board of Trustees Chairman Ret. General Osman Yildirim, Rector Unsal Ban and Turkkusu (Turkish bird) General Manager Serhat Buyukayan, and informed about the university. Speaking at the ceremony, Gul reiterated that the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Air Force was marked this year. "We know that there are graves of Turkish aviators who were martyred back in Damascus, Egypt and Palestine in 1910s," Gul said, noting that we Turks made planes before they made cars.
