Gul decorated with state medal of Turkmenistan
TurkmenPresident Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov decorated President Abdullah Gul in a ceremonywith the State Medal of Turkmenistan, which is its highest and most important medal and which was granted to a foreign head of state for the first time ever. Speaking at the ceremony, Gul expressed his pride and honor in being granted the highest state medal of Turkmenistan, the fatherland of the Turkish nation. "I, during Your Excellency's visit to Turkey last year, decorated him with the State Medal of Turkey as well. These two State Medals are the strongest symbols that the eternal ‘bone brotherhood' between our nations and countries will last forever," Gul said. For his part, Berdimuhamedov declared Gul as a great politician who has contributed to the friendship and fraternity between Turkey and Turkmenistan, pointed to the historic and deep-rooted bonds the two nations enjoy. Afterwards, Berdimuhamedov presented the State Medal of Turkmenistan to Gul, enrobed him in a national gown and tied his belt.
