Gul meets Merkel in Germany

President Abdullah Gul met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday as part of his contacts in Berlin. During the meeting, Gul and Merkel talked about Turkish-German relations, developments in northern Africa and the Arab world, said German government officials. German officials also indicated that Gul and Merkel expressed their views on Turkey's EU bid. Gul and Merkel discussed the situation of three million Turks living in Germany, and agreed on the necessity of learning the German language for Turks who are willing to integrate themselves in the German society.
