Gul welcomes opening of a new chapter in Turkey's EU accession talks

Holding at a joint press conference with King Harald V of Norway, who arrived in Ankara yesterday as part of an official visit to Turkey, President Abdullah Gul called on the EU countries not to block the EU negotiations and expressed Turkey's aim to complete full membership negotiations successfully. Gul continued to say that today's issue was to conclude the EU negotiations successfully and that once the negotiations were completed, the Turkish nation could lose its will to access EU, like the Norwegians, who voted against becoming a part of the EU in referandums. King Harald V expressed support for Turkey's efforts to draft a new constitution and stated that Turkey's new constitution will have an important place among other constitutions in Europe.
