Israeli officials warns Israel
Israel has been showing calm responses to harsh statements made by Turkey. Speaking to the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, a government official said yesterday that Turkey has been calling on Israel to confront one another in front of international society, but that Israel wouldn’t be involved in this. Another official spoke to the AFP news agency, saying that Israel wouldn’t like to see further deterioration its relations with Turkey. Furthermore, Amos Gilad, a senior official from the Defense Ministry, said that there was no offense between Turkey and Israel, which is demonstrated by the fact that their military attaché remains in Turkey and consulate services are underway. Speaking on his part, former Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer said that Israel was damaged by these developments, adding, “Turkey is a great power and there are deeply strategic considerations between us and Turkey dating back to many years. All sorts of efforts should be exerted to find a formula aimed at reconciliation. If an apology was necessary, Israel shouldn’t be afraid of this, but apologize.”
