Four Istanbul-based galleries will be taking part in VIENNAFAIR The New Contemporary, which unrolls its 2013 edition in the Austrian capital on Thursday, putting the main emphasis on the innovative power of Eastern and Southeastern European art and galleries until Oct. 13. The Istanbul-based galleries Cda-Projects, Galeri Nev, Galeri Zilberman and Sanatorium Art Gallery are the four galleries that will be representing Turkey at the fair, which aims to redefine the notion of East meets West. Cda-Projects will also be participating in the fair's special project "DIYALOG": New Energies, which will also focus on emerging art institutions in Romania and the Caspian region. Initiated with the purpose of contributing to cultural exchange in the field of contemporary arts, the project is curated by Kazakh artist-art expert Gaisha Madanova and by the artistic directors of the fair. The fair will offer a "varied spectrum of contemporary art production and an extensive visitors program for art collectors and enthusiasts," the organizers said in a press release on Monday. Art spaces from Belgium, France, Germany, Iran, Poland, Russia and Italy along with galleries from other parts of the world will also have the chance to present artworks at the fair.
