Istanbul celebrates 85 years of independence

The 85th anniversary of Istanbul's independence was celebrated in an official ceremony yesterday. Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas, 1st Army Commander Gen. Ergin Saygun and Istanbul Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah were among those attending the ceremony, which was held on Vatan Caddesi in the city's Fatih district.
