Japanese Prime Minister to pay official visit to Turkey

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is set to arrive in Turkey this evening and meet with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan tomorrow. Speaking to reporters prior to his visit, Abe said that Japan wanted to cooperate with Turkey in a nuclear power plant to be built in Turkey's northern province of Sinop. "During the meeting to be held with Erdogan, I hope to discuss in detail the concrete policies aimed at strengthening Turkish-Japanese relations and accomplish a result," Abe said, adding that they would like to rapidly carry out efforts regarding the Economic Cooperation Agreement and ensure that the Social Security Agreement is signed with Turkey. Abe also said that Japan was willing to cooperate with Turkey regarding the nuclear power plant to be constructed in Sinop with "safe and state of the art technology."
