Largest geothermal power plant opeed by Erdogan

Speaking at inauguration ceremony of Kizildere 2 geothermal power plant, Turkey's largest power plant constructed by Zorlu Group with an investment totaling $250 million in Denizli, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "Turkey turns into an energy centre in the region as the economy and prosperity improves each day resulting from our 'silent reforms". Kizildere 2 geothermal power plant with its capacity of 600 million kWh per year will be the biggest of Turkey after Kizildere geothermal power plant, which started operating in 1974 as the second geothermal power plant of Europe. Pointing out to the developments in energy sector in Turkey, Erdogan said, "We aim not to waste even a drop of water." For his part, Zorlu Chairman Ahmet Zorlu said that they aimed to grow by using local and renewable resources, adding that they would make a contribution totaling $150 million to reduce Turkey's current account deficit thanks to the geothermal power plant and additional investments in the coming period
