Logistic base built in Mediterranean basin

The groundbreaking ceremony for Cukurova Regional Airport which aims to be the logistic base of Mediterranean basin was held yesterday. Attending to the ceremony, Minister of Transport and Communications Binali Yıldirim said their aim was to meet the needs of growing Adana and five million people living around Mersin. "Four million people are travelling by plane in the region. Adana and Mersin cannot respond this development with only one airport in the future," Yildirim said. Speaking on behalf of Civil Aviation Co, Kocoglu Construction's chairman of executive board Sukru Kocoglu gave details of financing plans. "We are talking with four funds from Dubai, Russia and Europe. We have not signed any agreement yet. We are considering partnership offer of the fund from Dubai. I think we will conclude it in three months," he said.
