Marzuki: "We sympathize with Turkey"
Monsef Al-Marzuki, leader of the Congress for the Republic Party (CPR) which is the runner-up in Tunisia's elections said that they sympathized with Turkey, adding that a government should be immediately established without losing people's confidence. Al-Marzuki said that the winner of elections, the Ennahda Party (EP) was a democratic party with which they have shared a common fate, adding, "To me, the world is divided into two groups, not as seculars or religionists, but as democrats and non-democrats. Ennahda has adopted a democrat approach by emphasizing Islam. There are Christian democrat parties in Europe, whereas Turkey has the Justice and Development (AK) Party. Why couldn't we have one in Tunisia as well? What's important to us is to have a democrat party which respects human rights. Turkey could be shown as an example to Tunisia. Turkey sets an example with such characteristics as protecting its national identity and culture and opening to the world with its democratic and economic achievements. We sympathize with Turkey. We will have much better relations with friendly Turkey in the future."
