Moroccan Foreign Minister Saadalddine Othmani was yesterday welcomed by President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. During the meeting held with Othmani at Cankaya Presidential Palace, Gul said that Turkey has appreciated Morocco's peaceful political transformation at a time of political unrest sweeping across the Arab world that has turned out to be bloody and violent in varying degrees. Gul also praised the friendly ties between Turkey and Morocco dating back to hundreds of years. Speaking in a joint news conference with his Moroccan counterpart in Ankara on Monday, Davutoglu said that Morocco, which has implemented major successful reforms in several areas, has set the standard for the region in terms of democracy.
