Mursi calls Turkey and Iran to convene on Syria
Egypt's president said yesterday that a quartet of states -- Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey and Egypt -- would meet to discuss the Syrian crisis, stressing that the time had come to change the Syrian government. Making his first presidential address to the Arab League in Cairo, Mohamed Mursi stated that "the quartet which Egypt has called for will meet now," without providing any details. Though the date and exact format of the meeting are still under discussion, Mursi's call is likely to be welcomed by Turkey.Everyone should know that the people of Syria have made their decision and what has to be done must be done. There is still time to end the bloodshed in Syria" Mursi noted.
