The NATO Allied Air Command in Izmir, the command center for monitoring the alliance's air operations in Libya, has assumed the control of air traffic in the country, according to the base's commander Lt. Gen. Ralph J. Jodice. "NATO may fire at some air or ground targets that attack or threat civilians," said Jodice in a video press conference from Napales. "But we will do everything to protect civilians and their property from possible damage. Humanitarian aid from Turkey is a sign that all means are being mobilized to solve the problem, which represents the spirit of the alliance."
