Nurcan scores three golds at european weightlifting championship

Turkish weightlifter Nurcan Taylan yesterday won three gold medals in the 24th European Weightlifting Championship in Kazan, Russia. Turkish weightlifters won eight medals on the first day of the championship. Taylan won the medals in the women's 48 kg category after lifting 90 kg in snatch, 105 kg in clean-and-jerk, and 195 kg in aggregate. Nurdan Karagoz finished third in the snatch, winning the bronze medal with 80 kg, and lifted 100 kg in the clean-and-jerk to win the silver. She also won the silver with 180 kg in aggregate. Gokhan Kilic, competing in 56 kg, lifted 118 kg in snatch, and became the European champion.
