PM Erdogan, Obama speak on telephone

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday spoke on the telephone with US President Barack Obama, diplomats said. They discussed regional developments, mainly Libya and Syria, said the diplomats, but gave no further details. A senior US official also said that in order to discourage the violent crackdown against demonstrations seen recently in Syria, Washington is reviewing several options, including sanctions against President Bashar Assad's regime.
