Turkish President Abdullah Gul received Ugandan Ambassador to Ankara Johnson Olwa Agara at Cankaya Presidential Palace where Ambassador Agara submitted his letter of credential to President Gul. Commenting on the hot agenda of Turkey, "As you know, Turkey's Syrian border is not an ordinary one. There is an extraordinary situation on the border. Turkey declared its rules of engagement after certain events happened. When a helicopter violated the border line, Turkey did what was necessary under the rules," said Gul. In the meantime, President Gul will have a very busy agenda next week at U.N. General Assembly meeting. Turkey will be represented at the United Nations by a high-level delegation led by President Abdullah Gul who will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and diplomats. They will depart for New York on September 21. The forum will provide Turkey an opportunity to convince allies that Syrian conflict requires a more comprehensive strategy and that merely dismantling Damascus' chemical weapons is unlikely to end the bloodshed. Gul will address the General Assembly on September 24 after Brazilian President Dilma Roussef and U.S. President Barack Obama. Gul is also expected to attend a reception to be hosted by President Obama and a lunch by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon where he will reportedly engage in more bilateral talks with his counterparts on a number of issues, particularly on Syria crisis.
