President Gul urges Turkish investment in Indonesia
President Abdullah Gul yesterday called on the businesspeople of Turkey and Indonesia to invest in each other's country. Speaking at the Turkey-Indonesia Business Forum, which he attended with his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Gul said Turkey has seen a remarkable transformation in recent years thanks to a series of sweeping reforms. "Indonesia, which has a gross domestic product of more than $700 billion, a population of 250 million, and rich natural resources, and Turkey, a successful country that connects Europe and Asia, should have much stronger cooperation," he said. Gul urged Turkish businesspeople to invest in Indonesia, pointing to eight trade agreements recently signed between the countries. "Indonesia presents a great opportunity for Turkish contractors, who come in second after China with investments of $160 billion," he said.
